Dr. Kirsten Quistberg

Licensed Psychologist

Dr. Kirsten Quistberg (she/her) is a Licensed Psychologist (#1015990) with the College of Health and Care Professionals of British Columbia. She lives and works on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of the lək̓ʷəŋən Peoples, including the Songhees and Esquimalt Nations, as well as the W̱SÁNEĆ Peoples.

She offers a warm, empathetic, and compassionate approach, to supporting clients and families in achieving their goals and improving their daily functioning and overall wellbeing. She has a special interest and expertise in working with young people with mental health difficulties (such as anxiety, mood concerns) in the context of neurodevelopmental differences, such as Autism, ADHD, or Intellectual Developmental Disorder. She is passionate about using and adapting evidence-based treatments to best meet the unique needs of each individual client and family.

Dr. Quistberg is dedicated to fostering a safe, supportive environment where clients can explore and navigate complex emotions and life challenges. She appreciates the importance of understanding how sociocultural influences, neurodiversity, gender, and gender expression intersect and shape mental health, striving to provide care that is both equitable and effective.

Outside of work, she loves spending time with her husband, daughter and pets, getting outside in nature, baking sweet treats, and watching her favourite comfort shows.

Experience

Dr. Quistberg earned her PhD in Clinical Psychology with a specialization in lifespan development from the University of Victoria. She completed a CPA-accredited pre-doctoral at BC Children’s Hospital completing rotations in mental health and medical psychology streams. Her clinical experiences focus on work with young people struggling with mental health concerns in both inpatient (hospital) and outpatient (community) settings. Her research has largely focused on how parenting influences children’s emotion regulation skills and mental health more broadly.

 In addition to her private practice work, she has experience working in tertiary mental healthcare settings including the Inpatient Child Psychiatry Unit at BC Children’s hospital, Maples Adolescent Treatment Centre and Queen Alexandra Children’s Health Centre. Her work at these healthcare settings has included providing therapy and assessment services to children and family with complex mental health concerns and related challenges.
